A delegation of opposition parties led by Congress met President Pranab Mukherjee and demanded his intervention for protecting Constitutional democracy, fundamental rights of the citizen and ensuring rule of law in the country.The parties include Samajwadi Party, RJD and CPI(M). Briefing reporters after meeting Mr Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Senior Congress leader and leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad also alleged that CBI and other Central agencies are being used to harass the opposition parties’ leaders particularly the Chief Ministers.
He also accused the government of undermining the constitutional powers of the Rajya Sabha by bringing the key bills in the form of money bill. Mr Azad said, the delegation also raised the issue of alleged tampering of EVMs in recently concluded assembly polls putting the sanctity of election process under scanner.On the issue of allegation of tampering of EVMs, Mr Naidu said, EVMs were also used earlier and when these parties won then there were no questions . He said, the Election Commission has already clarified the misgivings.
Mr,Naidu alleged that when the opposition parties failed in their misinformation campaign they made last effort to stall the OBC Bill giving constitutional status to National Commission for Backward Classes.Top Bureau
