Jamiat medical camp at Ajmer Urs treats 1,415 pilgrims over six days
Ajmer, June 23: A six-day free medical camp organised by Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind during the annual Muharram visitation associated with the Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti treated 1,415 pilgrims between June 17 and June 22, according to the organisation.
The camp, set up at the Qaid-e-Vishram Sthali ground in Ajmer, provided free medical consultations, medicines and basic health services to devotees arriving from different parts of the country for the annual pilgrimage.
The initiative was organised under the guidance of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind president Maulana Mahmood Madani and was supervised locally by the Ajmer district unit of the organisation.
Organisers said the camp continued to function despite high temperatures and heavy footfall during the six-day period. Medical teams attended to pilgrims suffering from exhaustion, seasonal ailments and other health-related issues commonly reported during large gatherings.
Doctors associated with the camp included Dr Saleem Ahmad of Kishangarh, Dr Abdul Wajid, Dr Abdul Qadir, Dr Ram Giri and medical assistant Najma Bano. Representatives from the organisation’s central office, including Maulana Aleemuddin Ajmeri and Maulana Mohammad Kamil Meerathi, coordinated the arrangements, while Jamiat’s general secretary Maulana Mohammad Hakeemuddin Qasmi remained in contact with the organisers.
According to Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, the organisation has been associated with welfare and medical activities during the Ajmer Urs since the 1970s, although the initiative witnessed interruptions at various points before being revived in recent years. The organisation also pointed to its long-standing association with the Ajmer dargah and the Chishti spiritual tradition.
At the conclusion of the camp, the Ajmer Dargah administration and the Dargah Committee acknowledged the services rendered by the organisation. Mohammad Bilal Khan, Chief Executive Officer of the Dargah administration, presented a certificate of appreciation to members of the Jamiat team for their medical and welfare work.
In a statement, Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani said humanitarian service remained an integral part of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind’s activities and appreciated the contribution of doctors, volunteers and organisers associated with the camp. He expressed hope that similar welfare initiatives would continue in the future.
