Ukraine said Thursday its air defence forces had shot down 29 out of 30 Russian cruise missiles fired overnight, in an attack that targeted Kyiv and other regions.
“The Russian occupiers launched several waves of missile attacks from different directions. A total of 30 sea, air and land-based cruise missiles were launched,” the military said , adding that Ukrainian air defence systems had “destroyed 29 cruise missiles.”

Between 21:00 on May 17 and 05:30 on May 18, the Russian occupiers launched several waves of missile attacks from different directions. Air defense forces and means of the Air Force, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, destroyed 29 cruise missiles.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
“A total of 30 sea, air, and land-based cruise missiles were launched. 22 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles were fired from strategic aircraft: two Tu-160s and eight Tu-95s.
Six Kalibr cruise missiles were fired from warships in the Black Sea. Also, two Iskander-K cruise missiles – from ground-based operational-tactical missile systems,” the report says.
