Right wing man arrested for allegedly killing 65-year-old man in Islamophobic attack

A 65-year-old man was found dead in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch district and a case of murder was registered after a video purportedly showed a man slapping the old man repeatedly and asking whether he was a Muslim, police said on Saturday.

Jain was a resident of Sarsi village in Ratlam district of the State. He went missing on May 16 after visiting a religious programme at Chittorgarh in Rajasthan, police said. His body was found on Thursday evening on Rampura Road under the jurisdiction of Manasa police station, 38 km from the Neemuch district headquarters. The alleged video is suspected to have been shot in the early hours of Thursday.

A case against the accused has been booked under sections 302 and 304 (death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Following the incident, MP home minister, Narottam Mishra, while speaking to the media, confirmed the same.
