Pakistan: Shahbaz Sharif takes oath as the newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan

During the national assembly session for electing the new Prime Minister, Sharif got a total of 174 votes, two more than 172 needed to be elected.

Shahbaz Sharif take oath as the newly elected prime minister of Pak.

Right after being chosen as the Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif spoke on a range of issues including holding a briefing on Imran Khan’s foreign conspiracy claims and establishing better relations with India.

Shahbaz Sharif is the younger brother of the former Pakistani Prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

Before Shehbaz was elected as the Prime Minister, PTI lawmakers resigned in a move to pressure the new ruling party and its allies to call for elections.

Meanwhile a large number of protests were staged in parts of Pakistan by PTI supporters against the ouster of Khan. The protesters including women and children showed their solidarity with Khan during the rally that started at 9 pm on Sunday and lasted till 3 am on Monday.
