India and Sudan Deepen Healthcare Cooperation

NEW DELHI: TOP BUREAU/ The Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in New Delhi recently hosted the India–Sudan Medicine Corridor Roundtable, a high-level dialogue organized in collaboration with the India & Arab Countries Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture (IACCIA). The event underscored the longstanding friendship between India and Sudan and reaffirmed the shared commitment of both nations to expanding cooperation in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, and life sciences.

The roundtable brought together senior diplomats, leading Indian pharmaceutical manufacturers, healthcare providers, medical technology companies, policymakers, and regulatory experts to explore new opportunities for collaboration. Discussions focused on promoting investment, facilitating knowledge exchange, strengthening healthcare infrastructure, and enhancing access to affordable, high-quality medicines and medical technologies.

The initiative reflects the growing momentum in India–Sudan bilateral relations, with healthcare emerging as a key pillar of strategic partnership. Participants highlighted India’s globally recognized expertise in pharmaceuticals, medical education, hospital management, and digital health, while emphasizing Sudan’s potential as an important partner for healthcare development in Africa.

The meeting concluded with a shared vision to deepen institutional partnerships, encourage private-sector engagement, support technology transfer and capacity building, and establish sustainable mechanisms for long-term cooperation. The India–Sudan Medicine Corridor is expected to serve as a catalyst for expanding bilateral trade, improving healthcare outcomes, and fostering mutually beneficial economic and people-to-people ties between the two friendly nations.
