Sanskrit Language and Literature is the foundational pillar of Indian culture, knowledge, and spirituality. Ancient texts like the Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayana, and Mahabharata were composed in Sanskrit and hold a treasure trove of life philosophy and ethical values. Sanskrit’s grammatical precision and scientific approach make it one of the most sophisticated languages in the world. The details of the papers presented in the Sanskrit category are as follows:

Students of Government Degree College (Autonomous), Khairatabad, Hyderabad, under the supervision of Dr. Gantepaka Srinu, presented a paper titled “The Bhagavad Gita as a Management and Leadership Subject” The paper emphasized the unparalleled teachings of the Bhagavad Gita on self-discipline, ethical decision-making, selfless duty, and clarity of action.  In the digital age, preserving these manuscripts is crucial for accessing ancient wisdom and advancing future scientific research. Researchers like Sahit Lal H., A. Harish Chandra, S. Kavya, Asma Sultana, B. Maithili, and K. Poornima emphasized the importance of this exceptional legacy.

Students of MTR Government Degree College for Women (Autonomous), Mahbubnagar, under the supervision of B. Venkat Reddy, presented a paper titled “The Bhagavad Gita for Personality Development.” This paper uniquely interpreted the teachings of the Gita, focusing on self-awareness, character-building, moral principles, decision-making, and fostering positive thinking.

The philosophical insights of the Gita guide personality development and success in modern life, eleven papers were presented in Hindi, three in Sanskrit, and six in Urdu, amounting to twenty papers overall. Therefore, the awards should be distinct for each language.

Each language’s papers were presented under the supervision of two experts, followed by a question-and-answer session. In conclusion, all participating students and supervisors were awarded certificates. All experts acknowledged the excellence of the papers presented.

However, despite the presentations in three languages, the awards were combined instead of being allocated separately for each language.

The limited number of awards fails to properly reflect the diversity. This policy has resulted in a noticeable decline in student interest and participation.

Many talented students with unique research ideas are becoming discouraged due to the lack of opportunities, which could impact the long-term Advancement of research in our educational institutions. There is also a disparity in the selection of colleges for different languages.

For Hindi papers, colleges from Hyderabad, Jangaon, Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar, Medchal, Ranga Reddy, and Sangareddy were chosen. For Sanskrit, two colleges from Hyderabad and one from Mahbubnagar participated. For Urdu, colleges from Mahbubnagar, Hyderabad (two colleges), Nirmal, Sangareddy, and Vikharabad were selected.

In this context, Telangana freedom fighter Jan Nisar has demanded that considering the broad participation of colleges across the state, awarding only three combined prizes is unfair and undervalues the students’ hard work.

According to the research policy of the Telangana Commissionerate, University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, and the National Education Policy, it is essential to institute separate awards for each language.

Such a step would ensure balanced and fair recognition of academic efforts and inspire students to pursue research with greater enthusiasm and dedication.

We strongly appeal for a revision of the existing award structure and the introduction of a comprehensive and equitable system that truly acknowledges the diversity and richness of our educational heritage.
