VP Dhankhar Pays Tribute To Late Iran Prez and Foreign Minister
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar arrived in Tehran today to attend the memorial ceremony for Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who were killed in a helicopter crash last Sunday.
Dhankhar was received by Iranian authorities upon his arrival and paid tributes to Late President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and Late Foreign Minister Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. He also conveyed condolences to Acting President Mohammad Mokhber.
The main funeral procession for the late leaders started this morning at Tehran University. A public holiday has been declared by the Iranian government for the funeral proceedings in Tehran on Wednesday.
Raisi’s burial is likely to take place in Mashhad, his hometown, on Thursday. India had observed a day of national mourning on May 21 to mark the tragic incident.
