According to ANI reports, heavy rains followed by violent storms battered Assam in the previous few days which has affected more than 20,000 people in 592 villages in several districts
In Assam, around 14 people were killed due to heavy rainfall, lightning, and storm. Many people were also injured in this incident, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). Earlier, 4 people died when the storm hit the parts of Assam in many regions.

On April 15, four persons were killed in the Tingkhong region of Dibrugarh district, three in Barpeta district, and one in Goalpara district.
A strong storm struck Barpeta, Goalpara, Dibrugarh Nalbari, Kamrup (Metro), Chirang, Cachar, Darrang, Golaghat, Udalguri, Karbi Anglong, and Kamrup districts, which affected a total of 20,286 people from 592 villages.
The people of Assam will not be exempted from the effects of heavy rain, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). IMD predicted isolated severe to very heavy rainfall in Assam on April 16, 2022. Simultaneously, it was forecasted that the state will certainly have isolated heavy rain on April 17.
Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, in addition to Assam, are expected to have isolated rain on Sunday.
