Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind visited the riots-hit Jahangeerpuri locality in Delhi

A five-member delegation of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind visited the riots-hit Jahangeerpuri locality in Delhi

New Delhi, April 19: Expressing deep concern over the communal clashes in Delhi’s Jahangpuri, Maulana Mahmood Asa’d Madani, the president of Jamiat Ulama–i-Hind, termed it a failure of law & order machinery and demanded a fair inquiry into the whole incident. Maulana Madani said that the investigating agencies should discharge their responsibilities honestly and fairly and should try to get to the bottom of the matter. All these activities had started in Jahangirpuri on the morning of the incident day, yet the negligence of the police administration and its failure to clamp down on the miscreants in the religious procession is reprehensible.

It should be noted that on the direction of Maulana Madani, a five-member delegation of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind led by Advocate Supreme Court Muhammad Noorullah reached Jahangirpuri today and met Imam Sahib of the affected mosque and responsible people from both the communities living in the C. block region. The delegation included Maulana Azeemullah Siddiqui Qasmi, Maulana Ghayyur Ahmad Qasmi, Qari Saeed Ahmed and Advocate High Court Abdul Ghaffar. Local officials Khalil Ahmed, Sheikh Abdul Qadir, Mohammad Jahangir, and Maulana Ramzan, recounted that the procession approached the mosque twice before the final time at 6 pm. But they were convinced to change their routes. When the religious procession reached here through Hussain Chowk at 6 pm, it became more enraged. The miscreants who were part of the procession started hurtful slogans against the Muslim community. When local people told the miscreants to go away, they flagged swords on them, then the situation became out of control until the police interfered with heavy arms. They called that if police was active, this situation would have not take place.

Meanwhile, the delegation of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind also met the families whose members have been arrested by the police in connection with the case, including the wife of Mr Ansar Ahmed, a social worker. She told that her husband is innocent and he does good deeds and social work for all Hindus and Muslims here. Even that day he went to convince the people to not fight off. The residents handed over to the Jamiat delegation a list of 14 people and their Aadhaar cards who got arrested. Their relatives have requested the Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind for the delivery of justice. Advocate and Maulana Niaz Ahmad Farooqi incharge of the Juh legal affairs said that Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind will fight their cases with full vigor…
