NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will land in Teheran airport this evening. Later, he will meet a delegation of Sikhs residing in Iran and visit a local Gurdwara.This is PM Modi’s first visit to Iran since taking over office two years ago. The visit comes four months after the sanctions on Iran were lifted and the international community is re-engaging with the nation.During the visit he will meet the Iranian top leadership including President Hassan Rouhani to boost trade, energy and strategic ties. He will also call on Iran’s supreme religious and political leader Ayatollah Khamenei. It is expected that the visionary PM Modi will strengthen and promote peace in the region with exchange of trade and cultural ties and he will not pursue the saffron agenda of dividing shias and sunni sects.Top Bureau
