New Delhi: 15 Sep. 2023 // To commemorate and acknowledge the efforts of madrasa authorities, students, as well as its dedicated teachers and staff for playing a crucial role in achieving outstanding results, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind’s wing Jamiat Open School (JOS) organized a felicitation program today at JUH headquarter in New Delhi.
The event was hosted by JUH President Maulana Mahmood As’ad Madani. Prof. Saroj Sharma, chairperson of the National Institute of Open School (NIOS) was the chief guest.
In his Welcome Address, Maulana Mahmood As’ad Madani, President of Jamiat Ulama-i- Hind said, “The modern times are fast changing with all the new technologies coming fast; therefore the need was felt to equip the Madrassa students with tools and knowledge which can help them address the modern world’s issues and so that they can encounter the challenges head on.
Only then they would be able to understand the responsibilities and the way to put their ideas and dialogues in the right manner and learn that understanding is the key.”
Lauding the contribution of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) in this great joint venture initiative, he added, “The valuable partnership between Jamiat Open School (JOS) and National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is to help the students evaluate, address the modern challenges.
The Madrassas are already imparting education; there are no shortcomings in Madarssa system. The only need is to enhance their skills. I thank NIOS for supporting us in realizing the dreams of so many students.
I am very hopeful that NIOS would proudly say that most of the brilliant students have come from Jamiat Open School. They would not only make Jamiat proud but also NIOS as well as our great nation!”
Elaborating the value of such bilateral efforts, the Chief Guest of the event, Prof. Saroj Sharma, Chairperson of NIOS, said, “According to ‘UNESCO’s Learning: The Treasure within (1996)’, education throughout life is based on four pillars: learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together and learning to be.
This joint venture between Jamiat Open School and the National Institute of Open Schooling aspires to help students achieve these objectives. They should carry on with the shared legacy of growing and learning together. The aim is to preserve our culture and build the nation.”
She lauded JOS’s efforts towards raising the bar of literacy level in the country and said that the New Education Policy aims to bring many languages into its fold such as Pashto and Persian. Hopefully, we will keep with the modern advancement and succeed in carrying forwards this shared legacy of growing together.”
Dr. PA Inamdar, President– P.A.Inamdar University whose contribution has been immense in making this joint initiative successful, lauded Madrasa system and said it is making millions literate without any government help thus helping in nation building.
He added that ‘Deen’ (Religion)will be understood better if these students also have the knowledge of ‘Dunia’ (world). He stressed Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other technologies and felt the need to include new tools in the system to equip the students to better face the challenges of life and times. The speed of education should match the speed of the world, he said.
Maulana Hakimuddin Qasmi, General Secretary shed light on Jamiat’s contributions to modern India. Maulana Niaz Ahmad Farooqui, Secretary of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind elaborated on the JOS work and how it is uplifting the literacy level and boosting the prospects of empowerment and a bright future.
Farooqui added that this is a dream project of JUH President Maulana Asad Madani and lauded NIOS for its tremendous support to help make the shared initiative a national success.
Many teachers and meritorious students who topped were honored with trophies. The event also saw the presence of many eminent personalities from NIOS and the education sector including Dr S Farooq, (Chairman – Tasmia Society), Prof Akhtarul Wasey, Zubair Gopalani, Kamal Faruqui (Member AIPLB), among others.
