New Delhi, May 22, 2022:People had consoled and left, but the work was done by Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind. This is the overall impression of the flood victims of Mahad, Konkan who were handed over the keys of the newly constructed and repaired houses by the President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Maulana Arshad Madani. Hundreds of houses were wiped out by the catastrophic floods of July 2021 in the area of Kokan Mahad. Some people had built their houses without any help but there were some people who could not do it without any help.

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, in accordance with its long tradition, continued the relief work from the very beginning, irrespective of religion and caste. A construction project was started there under the supervision of Jamiat Ulama Maharashtra, and several teams visited the flood affected area and prepared a survey report, on the basis of which construction and repair work of 45 houses had been started, out of these 45, 18 newly built houses belong to the Hindu brothers.

A grand ceremony was held at Ambedkar Hall of Mahad to hand over the keys of new-build houses to the victims. Apart from a large number of scholars, influential personalities and social workers, Shiv Sena MLA, a minister of Maharashtra government and Mayor also attended the function.

Maulana Madani said in his speech that Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind was established in 1919. Since then, as the basic article of its constitution, there is a directive to make a practical effort to create love, unity and solidarity in India. Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind has always adhered to its constitution before and after the independence of the country, and will continue to do so forever.

Today the game of religious extremism and hatred is going on everywhere in the whole country, be it Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi or Madhya Pradesh.

They are playing politics of hatred among Hindu-Muslim to save their chair, but we all love, and we will always do,” he said. He never discriminated on the basis of religion. In the light of natural disasters in West Bengal, Kerala, Karnataka, etc. he said that the Jamiat Ulama and its people were the first to reach out to the distressed people everywhere. They carried out relief work irrespective of religion and creed.

At the beginning of program, General Secretary of Jamiat Ulama Maharashtra Maulana Haleemullah Qasmi said in the report that by the direction of the President of Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind Maulana Arshad Madani, our team started the work which has reached its completion today.

Minister of State for Maharashtra government Aditi Tai Tatkare said in his speech that he is grateful to Maulana Arshad Madani and his team for doing such a great job for the victims and the poor. He said that Jamiat Ulama has done more for the flood victims than the government has done, I am a witness to that. The people of Jamiat Ulama have reached where the administration has not reached, although the government is always on alert, but more than that you are on alert, we will continue to work together in the same way.

Mayor Asneha Didi Jagtap said, “I am fortunate to be sitting among the Ulama. Looking at Maulana Arshad Madani, it seems that communal harmony and brotherhood will remain unbroken in Maharashtra as the Jamiat does not see caste.” He said that I am Mayor but it was not in our power to endure such a massive catastrophe. It was the courage and strength of Jamiat Ulama that they have been working continuously from the first day till today. I am grateful to them and their work has given me the energy that those who spread hatred will never succeed.

Local MLA Bharatshet Gogawale said, “Looking at Maulana Madani gives me strength to know how much he cares for the people despite being 90 years old.” He said the floods were so severe and the devastation so big that it did not seem that the victims would be able to stand up again so quickly. But it is Jamiat Ulama who have worked day and night to make them stand. They did not see that he is a Hindu, he is a Muslim, but helped everyone in the same way. I am proud to see that our Maharashtra is the cradle of peace and brotherhood.

Mufti Asghar Khoptkar performed the duties as announcer while district units of Jamiat Ulama Maharashtra were also present in the program. Among them Raigarh Jamiat Ulama gave full support to Jamiat Ulama Maharashtra. ۔
