Amendment to the Waqf Act is an Attack on the Constitution: Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani

New Delhi 17 March 2025, Jantar Mantar: Addressing the protest organized by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board today, Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, termed the proposed amendment to the Waqf Act as a serious attack on the Constitution and its fundamental structure.

He stated that this is an attempt to distort the framework envisioned by the country’s founding fathers for a modern and democratic India.

Maulana Madani stated that ,”Bulldozers are being used against our homes, mosques, and madrasas, and now, an attempt is being made to bulldoze the Constitution itself,” .

He further pointed out that some people are trying to frame this as an issue concerning only Muslims, whereas the truth is that it concerns the entire nation.

“We must oppose this conspiracy at all costs, as this battle is not limited to one community; it is the fight of every citizen who believes in the Constitution and democracy,” he asserted.

Maulana madni emphasized that India is a country wherein minorities are in majority, and this struggle is not just for one group but for everyone who upholds democratic and constitutional values.

“If we unite all concerned citizens and move forward with this movement collectively, success will be inevitable,” he added.

Maulana Madani stressed that every great struggle demands sacrifices. “If we assume that this battle can be won while sitting idle, we are mistaken. We must be prepared to make sacrifices, strengthen our voices, and ensure unity in our ranks.
