Activists and intellectuals calls up on JK Govt. to lift ban on PFI

Activists and intellectuals drawn from different corners of the country have called up on the Government of Jharkhand to immediately lift the ban on Popular Front of India(PFI). In a joint statement issued by them, they said  the ban order  scoffs at the laws of the land and opens doors to the violation of fundamental rights respected by the constitution.

It is reported that the ban was imposed on the specious and baseless allegation that the front was influenced by the so called ISIS of the Middle East, they continued. “They understand that PFI is a neo social movement actively involved in developmental work like literacy campaign, prevention of malnutrition and comprehensive empowerment of the poor and the downtrodden,  especially Muslims.”

The signatories also pointed out that the Hindutva Government of Jharkhand and its police have been unhappy with the activists of Popular Front for highlighting the multiple lynching cases in the state. The ban is a ploy used by the government to intimidate people and suppress democratic forms of protest and dissent. This is not for the first time that the government has used law to ban organizations opposed to the plunder of this resource rich state and the corruption of the ruling class.

They also appealed to the human right groups, political parties and minority organizations to rally up for lifting the ban of Popular Front of India.

देश भर के सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता और बुद्धिजीवियों ने झारखण्ड सरकार से PFI से पाबंदी हटाने की अपील की

देश के विभिन्न हिस्सों से आने वाले सामाजिक कार्यकर्ताओं और बुद्धिजीवियों ने झारखण्ड सरकार से पाॅपुलर फ्रंट आॅफ इंडिया पर से तत्काल रूप से प्रतिबंध वापस लेने की अपील की है। एक संयुक्त बयान जारी करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि प्रतिबंध का यह आदेश देश के क़ानून का मज़ाक बनाने जैसा है और भारतीय संविधान द्वारा दिये गए मौलिक अधिकारों का खुला उल्लंघन है।

उन्होंने कहा कि बताया जा रहा है कि पाॅपुलर फ्रंट पर इस बेबुनियाद और झूठे आरोप में प्रतिबंध लगाया गया है कि फ्रंट मध्य पूर्व के तथाकथित संगठन आई.एस.आई.एस. से प्रभावित है। उन्होंने आगे कहा कि ‘‘हम समझते हैं कि पाॅपुलर फ्रंट आॅफ इंडिया एक नव-सामाजिक आंदोलन है जो शिक्षा अभियान, कुपोषण को खत्म करने और ग़रीब व पिछड़े वर्गों विशेषकर मुसलमानों के सशक्तिकरण जैसे विकास कार्यों में पूरी सक्रियता से हिस्सा लेता है।’’

हस्ताक्षरकर्ताओं ने इस बात की तरफ भी इशारा किया कि झारखण्ड की हिंदुत्व सरकार और उसकी पुलिस राज्य में हुई कई लिंचिंग की घटनाओं का पर्दाफाश करने की वजह से पाॅपुलर फ्रंट के कार्यकर्ताओं से नाराज़ है। यह प्रतिबंध जनता को भयभीत करने और विरोध की लोकतंात्रिक कोशिशों को दबाने की एक सरकारी चाल है।

यह पहला मौका नहीं है, जब इस सरकार ने संसाधनों से भरे इस राज्य में हो रही लूट और शासक वर्ग के भ्रष्टाचार का विरोध करने वाले संगठनों पर प्रतिबंध लगाने के लिए इस तरह क़ानून का इस्तेमाल किया है। साथ ही उन्होंने सभी मानवाधिकार समूहों, राजनीतिक पार्टियों और अल्पसंख्यक संगठनों से भी अपील की कि वे पाॅपुलर फ्रंट आॅफ इंडिया पर से प्रतिबंध वापस लेने के लिए अपनी आवाज़ बुलंद करें।
