A tanker was struck by an “unknown projectile” while anchored late Monday near Fujairah, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations.
The vessel was hit in the Gulf of Oman, about 23 nautical miles east of Fujairah, sustaining minor structural damage. No crew injuries or environmental impact were reported.
Fujairah serves as a key oil export route bypassing the Strait of Hormuz, which has effectively been shut since the conflict with Iran began. The Fujairah oil terminal and nearby FOIZ have been repeatedly targeted.
Authorities said a drone strike sparked a fire in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, with efforts underway to contain it.
The incident marks the 21st reported attack on vessels across the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and Gulf of Oman since the war began, UKMTO data shows. according CNN
