Demands for Basic Infrastructure Before Flyover Inauguration

by Dr. Jan Nisar Moin

February 28, 2025: The respected citizens of Zaheerabad, under the leadership of Telangana freedom fighter Dr. Jan Nisar Moin, have strongly demanded that the government ensure the completion of essential infrastructure around the flyover before its inauguration.

Despite repeated requests over the past six years, the lack of necessary facilities has caused severe inconvenience and safety concerns for the public.

For the improvement of urban development and traffic management, Dr Nisar’s key demands. These include the construction of proper and continuous roads on both sides of the flyover and an effective drainage system to reduce dust pollution and improve traffic flow.

Implementing the provisions of the Telangana Municipalities Act 2019 is crucial in this regard.

Immediate solutions are needed for the severe dust and environmental issues caused by improperly dumped loose soil around the flyover. These problems can be resolved by stabilising the ground and proper paving.

The entry and exit points of the flyover are narrow and dangerous, leading to traffic congestion and a high risk of accidents. Therefore, the roads on both sides should be widened and made safer in accordance with the standards of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) to ensure a smooth and secure journey.

Obstacles like electric poles, transformers, walls of the cattle market, old gates, and other unnecessary structures around the flyover hinder traffic flow and should be legally removed to widen the roads.

The relocation of public and private structures is also essential for urban development. Buildings, shops, graves, shrines, temples, and other structures obstructing road expansion should be shifted to suitable locations under the Telangana Urban Areas Development Act 1975 to facilitate better traffic management.

All proposed changes and relocations should comply with legal frameworks and urban planning principles to maintain public safety and civic order. These measures will not only improve the traffic system but also provide effective solutions to environmental and social issues.

In addition to Jan Nisar, senior Congress leaders, Syed Ahmad, Mohammad Mahemood, Muhammad Jameel, Mohammad Arif, Ayub Khan (TKS), social activists, and respected citizens have emphasised that delays in providing basic facilities are worsening public hardships.

The people of Zaheerabad also demanded that this flyover be named after former minister Muhammad Fariduddin.

Therefore, these issues must be resolved before the flyover’s inauguration to establish a safe and developed urban environment.

These demands have been formally presented in writing to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana, Sri. Anumala Revanth Reddy, the Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, the Department of Roads and Buildings, the Pollution Control Board, and other relevant authorities.
