Dr. Obaidullah Beg’s Efforts Bear Fruit; Afghanistan and India Sign Agreement in the Medical Sector
New Delhi: The efforts of Dr. Obaidullah Beg, International Coordinator of the All India Unani Tibbi Congress (AIUTC), have borne fruit, and Unani (Tibb-e-Unani) medicine has officially begun in Afghanistan. In this regard, the All India Unani Tibbi Congress has expressed its gratitude to the governments of both countries.
AIUTC National President Professor Mushtaq Ahmad and Secretary General Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan jointly expressed their happiness, stating that this step by the Government of India will further promote and develop Unani medicine.
It is also expected that the production of Unani medicines in India will increase. Naturally, when demand rises, production increases—leading to business growth and an increase in foreign exchange earnings for the country. It can be said that when demand for any domestic product grows, trade and commerce expand accordingly.
On the other hand, Unani medicine has been continuously playing its role in realizing the dream of a “Healthy India.” With the slogan “Unani Treatment at Every Doorstep,” AIUTC has now stepped forward to help keep Afghanistan healthy as well. There should be no hesitation in acknowledging that the overall promotion and growth of Unani medicine is largely credited to the All India Unani Tibbi Congress.
Under the leadership of Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad and Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, the entire AIUTC team is working with focus and dedication to promote Indian Unani medicine and is now ready to spread its wings at the international level.
Dr. Obaidullah Beg said that they are grateful to the Government of India, especially AYUSH Minister Prataprao Jadhav, for initiating a new chapter of Unani medicine in Afghanistan.
While AIUTC is thankful to the Government of India for this initiative, he added that the Government should also appreciate AIUTC’s efforts so that AYUSH gains international recognition and India’s name shines in the medical field globally.
In this connection, a delegation from Afghanistan led by Public Health Minister Maulvi Noor Jalal Jalali visited Delhi. The delegation included Abdullah Israili, Fazl Rabbi Karimi, Syed Muhammad Ibrahim Khel, Syed Haroon Azad, Khalid Ahmad Muhammad Aka, Saifutullah Devbandi, and Mujib-ur-Rahman Aftab from the Ministry of Public Health.
AIUTC also expressed gratitude to them, stating that this major success was achieved due to their keen interest. As a result of the agreement between the two countries, Unani research will begin in Afghanistan, and Afghan students will be provided free BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery) education in India—an achievement of great significance.
Dr. Obaidullah Beg further said that this agreement is highly beneficial for those who believe in Unani medicine. It will further strengthen Unani and help promote it in other countries as well.
