Press Release:
Vote 100% to protect the constitution, secularism and democracy: Maulana Arshad Madani
New Delhi: 23/April 2024 :As you know, the process of general elections has started in the country. After the completion of the first phase of voting, President Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Maulana Arshad Madani said that the percentage of voting that has come out in some constituencies is proof that people are still unable to understand the importance of their votes.
This is the reason why they refrain from voting, while in this democratic process of election, each vote has a value. Democracy is a blessing for the citizens of the country, but the foundation of democracy can be kept strong only when the country’s very citizens should understand the importance of his vote and actively participate in the voting process.
In the current situation of the country, it becomes imperative that 100% voting should be ensured to maintain secularism, democracy and the constitution. Voting is not only our democratic right but also our duty. Therefore, we have to fully understand the importance and necessity of this duty. Constitutional and democratic requirements cannot be fulfilled without the involvement of all the citizens of the country.
But the disappointing aspect is that we don’t show seriousness and foresight, maybe that’s why we don’t know the value of our vote. Despite all the publicity and efforts of the government and other constitutional bodies, we are not ready to wake up. This attitude towards democratic rights is very dangerous for both the country and the nation. In such a situation, the responsibility of you people increases.
Here several phases of voting are still remaining. Therefore, you should awaken people at your own level and encourage them to participate in voting peacefully and enthusiastically. Make people aware of the importance of their votes because even one vote can decide the win or lose.
It is not only a hope but a complete belief that considering our democratic duty, we will try to act upon that with full understanding, and will encourage others also to vote along with casting their own votes. Because it is a democratic right of every citizen. Therefore, every citizen should be serious about his democratic right and participate enthusiastically in the democratic process.
At last, Maulana Madani said that in such a situation, the responsibility of the responsible citizens increases. There are still many phases of voting remaining, so the influential and responsible people of the society and the nation should awaken the common citizens at their respective levels, and encourage them to cast their votes anyway. And also assure that without their active involvement this democratic process will be considered incomplete.
