Prayers resumed after 50 days in mosque in Rasoolpur

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind delegation questions police Authorities as perpetrators of Palwal Mosque Attacks Remain at Large.

New Delhi – September 13, 2023: Today, a delegation from Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, led by Maulana Hakeemuddin Qasmi, the General Secretary of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, paid a visit to the mosques that bore the brunt of the Mewat riots in Palwal.

The delegation also conducted a thorough examination of the ongoing restoration efforts undertaken by Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind to heal these places of worship.

Among the mosques visited by the delegation was the Rasulpur Mosque in District Palwal. Even after fifty days since the riots, congregational prayers had not resumed due to the violence that occurred. Located within a predominantly non-Muslim neighborhood .

This mosque was defiled during the riots, with a hateful message ‘urinal’ scrawled on the mihrab of the mosque. Restoration efforts are now in progress at this site as well.

The Plawal area in Mewat bore witness to the targeting of 14 mosques during the riots. The delegation meticulously examined these mosques to assess the extent of the damage.

Addressing the media, Maulana Hakeemuddin Qasmi, General Secretary of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, expressed deep concern over the distressing events that unfolded in Palwal.

He highlighted the desecration of mosques, attacks on Tablighi Jamaat members, and the mistreatment of the local underprivileged and working-class residents.

Furthermore, street vendors and cart operators were subjected to violence and intimidation, forcing them to abandon the region. Many shopkeepers were forced to vacate their shops, with no reimbursement of their advanced payments.

Shockingly, no action has been taken against the perpetrators, leaving a profound sense of unease within the community. Maulana Qasmi earnestly implored the government to heed the cries of the oppressed and take decisive action against those responsible for sowing discord and communalism.

Maulana Abid Qasmi, President of Jamiat Ulema Delhi Province, reiterated the unwavering commitment of Jamiat Ulema Delhi Province to support the restoration of these mosques and to provide assistance during challenging times like those faced in Mewat.

The delegation included Maulana Hakeemuddin Qasmi, Maulana Abid Qasmi, Maulana Ghayoor Ahmad Qasmi, Haji Ikram, Takedar Iqbal, Haji Younis, Haji Yasir, and other dedicated members of the team.
