New Delhi: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal filed a plea in the Supreme Court on monday 27 May , seeking an extension to his interim bail in a money-laundering case related to Delhi excise policy scam. Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21, was lodged in Tihar jail.
According to AAP sources, Kejriwal lost about 7 kgs weight since his arrest and his ketone level is significantly low. The party said it could be a sign of some serious desease. The Delhi CM has been advised to undergo PET-CT scan and other tests for which the party said he needs seven days time
The AAP convener is out on interim bail till June 1 and he must surrender to prison authorities by June 2, as per the court order. He had earlier sought an extended bail – till after the results are declared on June 4 – but the court turned him down.
Kejriwal was arrested March 21 in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam that roiled the AAP weeks before the election. ED had claimed the (now scrapped) policy allowed the Delhi government to receive kickbacks for license allotment.
These rebounds amounted to Rs 100 crores, the ED has alleged, and was used to fund the AAP’s election campaigns in Goa and Punjab. AAP and Kejriwal, however, denied the charges.
Remember Arvind Kejriwal was given interim bail for party campaign in Lok Sabha elections. People believe that Kejriwal’s election campaign can benefit not only the party but the entire INDIA block. However, its confirmation is possible only after 4th June 2024.
