Clashes At AMU claims One life ,Proctor’s Office Set On Fire 

AMU Aligarh: Top Bureau:Normalcy has returned to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU)  which witnessed clashes between two students groups on saturday evening.A former student was killed and one other injured during clashes.Today the University is peacefully conducting B-Arch and B-Tech tests as scheduled at 39 centres in AMU premises.IG, UP Police ,the VC, AMU, SSP and DM are taking round in the premises to ensure peace and smooth conduct of examination in the campus.

Senior police officer Aligarh Range Govind Agarwal told that trouble started when a student in Mumtaz hostel was assaulted and his room set afire .

He rushed to the proctor’s office to file his complaint. As soon as news of the incident spread, students belonging to the two rival factions gathered and a clash broke out.

Police said the student was shot dead on Saturday night near the Proctor’s office where the groups exchanged fire with each other.

The students torched a jeep and several bikes. The mob also indulged in arson and set afire the proctor’s office building.

AMU’s Public Relations Officer Rahat Abrar told Times of Pedia that the situation has returned to normal and an investigation into the incident is underway.The injured has been shifted to Delhi’s Ganga Ram hospital, Mr Abrar said.

Security has been stepped up and Rapid Action Force has been deployed on the campus  today for smooth conduct of tests, he added. Top Bureau
